Avengers: Endgame

Friends, movie-goers and S.H.I.E.L.D Agents
I come to bury the Avengers, but not really praise it
I meant this Infinity Saga, which has spanned a decade and more

Looking back in awe, I had a few questions questions

How did this ever come to be?

How did they sustain audience interest based on things that can be easily bought in Jaipur Gems and Jewels?

How did they make audience stay back till the last line of credit rolled up, a thing even truly remarkable movies could not manage?

How did they broadly make similar movies but varying in style but never with a jarring dip in apparent quality?

How did they keep proving adages like “stronger the villain, stronger the movie” wrong and thus making critics search for cover (and new phrases)?

How did they manage to convert a niche into the dominant pop culture phenomenon of our time?

Finally, how did they sustain the interest of such a large audience over such a long time?

Finally, finally; which brihaspathi had the bright idea to get Vijay Sethupathi to dub for Tony Stark?

<Ok strike that out>

I know, each of these questions have detailed answers; sometimes related too except the last question about Vijay Sethupathi. But these are the questions that I had when I watched End Game open mouthed, the second time.

Yes, I still have issues with the film; they way they approach Thanos this time is quite pathetic, the way they use Captain Marvel as a ex machina device too bugs me a little bit, some resolutions seemed to be written under the weight of the heroes themselves, but mostly Thanos who had become one of my favourites.

These are valid gaps, as wide as the ones that Dr. Strange conjures; and yes basically towards the end the movie does become Iron Man 4 and passing the parcel which is fine; but still I cannot accept how they flipped Thanos back to some rage monster generic villain and although he is even more powerful without the infinity stones.

Clearly this is no great film, but totally a great achievement.

Avengers Movie Rating after watching Endgame

#1 Marvel’s The Avengers

#3 Avengers: Infinity War
#4 Avengers: Endgame

Avengers Movie Rating after watching Endgame (II)

#1 Marvel’s The Avengers
#2 Avengers: Age of Ultron
#3 Avengers: Infinity War
#4 Avengers: Endgame

Readers will note that my interest in the first two Avengers films did see any effect even after the mega releases of Infinity War and Endgame. This proves that people can be stubborn and at the same time have movie ratings also which can scientifically back your stubborn-ness.

Cinebee rating of Avengers: Endgame 3.75/5

Glory to Bast.
