In Remembrance: Nagesh

There are very few actors in this country who can steal a scene from Kamal Haasan, or there are very few actors to whom Kamal would allow such a thing to happen (whichever part of the Haasar argument you belong to).

ButNagesh is something entirely different, in a performance that caps a studded career, here in the criminally under-watched 90s film Nammavar, an aging college professor comes to terms with the death of his young daughter.
From shock to forced acceptance to matter-of-factness of the whole event and finally to complete breakdown, Nagesh shows everything.
A national award winning performance, perhaps the only time the nation took notice of this great actor.
In a few weeks, it would be five years since his passing.
